At Sunday Funday Open Play, we’re all about strengthening the Venice community through play, connection, and wellbeing. As the heart of VBV, this gathering is more than just volleyball—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
Open Play is about more than just sport—it’s a community. One filled with people of all ages, at all different skill levels, and with endlessly different interests. Some aren’t even interested in playing ball, they simply come to the courts for the company—and to enjoy the beauty of Venice’s endless summer vibes.
Lines, balls, shade, water, and music will be set up for you and courts will be organized according to different skill levels. All you have to do is show up. We’ll serve you the rest.
VBV Academy
Beginners
Beginners class is where we teach ball control in beach volleyball. Being able to control the ball is crucial to learning, and feeling confident in the sport of beach volleyball.
The more consistent you can do this the more you will have fun with this game.

Intermediate
We believe an intermediate player has the ability to side out effectively. Siding out is a term for when the other team is serving and your team scores the point. No matter if its 2v2 or 4v4 having the confidence to side out is a requirement to take this class.
In this class you will learn how to side out against a proper defense, and learn new shots to hit. You will also start to work on your vision and learning to hit the ball away from the defenders.
Advanced
This is a class for those skilled in playing beach volleyball. If this is not you please do not register. If this is your first time registering , please expect a call to verify skill level
